We are pleased to announce that in April 2015, the US Department of Energy selected Aqwest to develop a laser driver for acceleration of nuclear particles. Targeted laser driver is a key element required to build laser accelerators for nuclear particles. This new technology offers to replace the traditional mammoth-size and costly accelerator research facilities with room-size devices. Compactness and simplicity of laser accelerators promises to greatly reduce the cost and timelines of high-energy research, and advance new scientific discoveries. The new systems will also generate energetic ions and hard x-rays for advanced medical treatment of cancer. With energetic particle sources affordable for universities, commercial laboratories, and hospitals, the US will be able to maintain its nuclear physics leadership.
