Aqwest innovative wavelength-tunable blue laser demonstrated the generation of high-energy pulses, which are critical for attaining long standoff and deep penetration in laser remote sensing.
Applications include bathymetry, detection of underwater objects, and remote sensing of ocean ecology from airborne and space-based platforms. The Aqwest blue laser transmitter overcomes the shortcomings of established blue laser technologies including, limited range, suboptimal fixed wavelengths, low efficiency, and large size and weight. This work received support from U.S. Government agencies.
